Standardized measuring cups and spoons have been used in the USA for a long time, and rightly so! Here in Germany, teaspoon sizes and their capacities vary, which is why you don't always add the same amount of baking soda into your cake. Recipes are increasingly being written in cups, but we don't know how big a cup should be.
The stainless steel and wooden-handled sets are beautiful baking utensils that are also useful and will be used frequently.
